Beat The Monster is all about on empowering people to break bad habits and build healthy habits. But why are habits so important?
The answer is simple! Our lives run on habits. The way we eat, drive and dress are all habits. Our habits dictate when we wake up, how we shower, how we do our work, how we spend our money, whether we exercise or not etc. In other words, habits dictate the actions we take on a consistent basis. Our actions produce our results and as such our habits actually determine how we live our lives and ultimately our destiny! Big words but true.
As an example, I have over the years worked with many executives in their 40s and 50s, who suddenly wake up! They realize that their long time addictions to work and the good life (food and drinking) are affecting not only their health but also their relationships with family and friends. It is really hard to admit for many of these people that they are not living the life that they really wanted. They might be winning the game of business but they are losing the game of life!
“Thoughts lead on to purposes; purposes go forth in action; actions form habits; habits decide character; and character fixes our destiny.” – Tryon Edwards
What is a habit? When you learn something, your brain makes connections that create pathways for neurological activity. When you routinely perform the same actions, your brain learns this pattern of behavior and sets up a pathway. This pathway is a more efficient way for the brain to process the routine. That is a habit.
Unfortunately, once a pathway is set it is extremely difficult to get rid of, which is why breaking a bad habit is so hard. BUT it is possible. You can beat the monster!
Habits can be changed and changing habits is a skill. You need to know how to do it and you need to practice. It is hard work but once you have mastered the technique, it becomes a lot easier to both break and build habits. We are giving you cool tools and techniques for you to beat the monster and build some new awesome habits.
Most people overestimate what they can accomplish in one week while they underestimate what they can get done in one month. It does take time and effort to change a habit. At Beat The Monster, we have created POWER, which is the framework for changing habits. It is a 30 day challenge, which will enable you to change a habit in 30 days.
“Winning is a habit. Unfortunately so is losing.” – Vince Lombardi
To kick the bad habit, you have to stop doing ‘it’ for 30 days straight. If you relapse at any point during the 30 days, you start all over again. The same principle applies when you create a new and healthier habit to replace the bad habit. It is paramount to practice this habit every single day for 30 days straight – Dude, no exceptions!
The POWER Weekly Planning Sheet has just been added to the Beat The Monster website. The sheet will enable you to plan POWER one week at a time. You will also find a sample showing you how to do it. Go HERE.
This is your opportunity to get back on track. Get rid on what is not serving you and build some habits that will move you forward.
So what are you waiting for? Get moving!
